New model of maglev train debuts
TSURU, Japan - A new model of Japan's state-of-the-art magnetically levitated (maglev) train makes its debut for a test run on the 18.4-kilometer experimental line in Tsuru, west of Tokyo, on July 25. Its lead car has a 23-meter-long nose, about 14 meters longer than the old model. In the past test runs, maglev trains hit a top speed of 452 kilometers per hour.
