Chinese ex-forced laborers survey ruins of Nagasaki coal mine
NAGASAKI, Japan - Li Qingyun (C), a 77-year-old former Chinese forced laborer, sails around the Hashima Island, southwest of Nagasaki, on July 27 to survey the ruins of a coal mine on the island. About 1,000 Chinese were forced to work in four coal mines in Nagasaki Prefecture, including one on Hashima Island, during World War II.
