Fire on unfinished luxury liner put out

NAGASAKI, Japan - A fire that broke out Oct. 1 on the unfinished 113,000-ton luxury liner Diamond Princess was almost extinguished Oct. 2. The vessel, owned by British shipping company P&O Princess Cruises PLC, was under construction at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.'s Nagasaki shipyard and was to be one of the world's largest luxury liners.
