(1)By election campaigns get under way

CHIBA, Japan - Liberal democratic Party policy chief Taro Aso (R) and New Komeito party Secretary General Tetsuzo Koshiba talk to each other on arrival in Chiba on Oct. 10 to pep up a candidate their parties jointly back in a House of Councillors by-election in Chiba Prefecture. Campaigns began for the Oct. 27 by-elections for seven seats in both chambers of the Diet that will mark the biggest test for the administration of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
