Toyota to launch hydrogen car in Japan Dec. 2
NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. will start leasing the Toyota FCHV (fuel-cell hybrid vehicle) (photo) to four central government agencies on Dec. 2 in a move that will bring it closer to becoming the world's first automaker to launch a fuel-cell vehicle. The FCHV is powered by electricity generated by the chemical reaction between hydrogen in an onboard tank and oxygen in the air. It generates no pollution, and the only by-product of the reaction is water.
