Sugihara statue dedicated in L.A.'s Little Tokyo

LOS ANGELES, United States - A bronze statue of Chiune Sugihara (C) was dedicated Dec. 13 in the Little Tokyo district in downtown Los Angeles in a ceremony. The late Japanese diplomat disobeyed the Japanese government and rescued thousands of Jews from the Holocaust by issuing them exit visas when he was the consul general in the then Lithuanian capital of Kuanas from 1938 to 1940. Sugihara's son Chiaki Sugihara puts his hand on the left shoulder of the statue.
