TOYOSATO, Japan - People seeking to preserve the 65-year-old Toyosato Elementary School building in Shiga Prefecture designed by American architect William Merrell Vories (1880-1964) rejoice in Toyosato on Dec. 24 after Toyosato Mayor Wasaburo Ono reportedly said he is thinking of preserving the building. Residents of the town have registered their opposition to demolition of the school.
