TOKYO, Japan - A woman operates 'Disney Wonderland' game software, which will be provided by the Japanese unit of Walt Disney Co. of the United States and the regional phone units of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (NTT), at a hotel in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward on March 27. The two companies have tied up to launch a broadband content distribution service.

Subscribers to KDDI Corp.'s ''au'' mobile phone service will be able to pay train fares with their handsets at East Japan Railway Co. stations starting in January 2006, the two companies said. JR East will allow its Suica electronic train fare card functions to be installed on Internet-capable mobile phone handsets for use with KDDI's EZ FeliCa service to be launched in September in combination with Sony Corp.'s FeliCa contactless integrated-circuit card technology.

Jessica Webster, first secretary at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, told the meeting that the planned fee hike would wipe out benefits from increased competition in Japan's telecom market.
