Daiei denies it plans to sell Hawks baseball team

FUKUOKA, Japan - Tadashi Nakauchi, owner of Pacific League baseball club Daiei Hawks, is surrounded by reporters at Fukuoka Dome in Fukuoka City on May 23 following a newspaper report that Daiei Inc., the struggling supermarket chain operator, is considering selling the club. Nakauchi denied the report, saying he and the Daiei management have reconfirmed their policy of keeping the team.
