Son praises 'real heroes' who saved father in 'The Pianist'

FUKUOKA, Japan - Christopher Szpilman speaks in Japanese to a gathering of students at Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, on June 3. Of his father Wladyslaw, a Polish Jew and concert pianist, portrayed as the protagonist in the film ''The Pianist,'' Christopher said that ''the real heroes'' were the German military officer who saved him and the many Polish people who gave him refuge.
