Top N. Korean defector willing to testify in Japan
TOKYO, Japan - Hwang Jang Yop (L), a top-ranking North Korean official who defected to South Korea in 1997, poses for a photo in Seoul on June 14 with Japanese opposition lawmaker Shu Watanabe. Watanabe told Kyodo News on June 21 that Hwang, former secretary of the Workers Party of Korea, had expressed willingness to testify in Japan about the situation in the reclusive communist state.
