Former Japanese fashion model Hiroko Matsumoto dies

PARIS, France - Former Japanese fashion model Hiroko Matsumoto (file photo) died at a Paris hospital on June 20 at age 67, her relatives said June 21. The cause of the death was withheld. Matsumoto, who was invited to go to Paris by fashion magnate Pierre Cardin in 1960, was the first Japanese to work for the Paris-based collection.

        PARIS, France - File photo shows Koji Yamamura, who won the top Crystal prize in the short film category for his work ''Mt. Head,'' a 10-minute animated movie based on a traditional Japanese Rakugo (comic storytelling) story, at the 27th International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France. The movie is the first Japanese short movie to be awarded the Crystal prize at the film festival, which closed on June 7.
