Toyota releases all-new Prius

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. President Fujio Cho stands beside the all-new Prius hybrid passenger car featuring a substantial improvement in fuel efficiency which his company launched on the Japanese market on Sept. 1. The new Prius, which marks the first full model change in six years, attains a fuel efficiency of 35.5 kilometers per liter of gasoline, 10 than the previous model and comparable with cars powered by a 2-liter gasoline engine.

The Ponam-31 can reach a speed of 38 knots, or 70 kilometers per hour, with its 2,982 cc diesel engine modified from one used in a version of Toyota's Land Cruiser Prado sport utility vehicle for overseas markets.
