Sharp boosts 1st-half group net profit

OSAKA, Japan - Sharp Corp. President Katsuhiko Machida announces in Osaka on Oct. 29 that the company's group net profit in the fiscal first half jumped 22.1% to a new high of 27.95 billion yen due to good sales of liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, camera-equipped mobile phones, LCD monitors and flash memory chips.
