Kyocera to enter luminescent display market

KYOTO, Japan - Kyocera Corp. President Yasuo Nishiguchi presents a flat-panel organic electroluminescent (EL) display in Kyoto Jan. 13. The ceramics maker said it will start commercial production of 2-8 inch displays in October 2005. EL displays consume less electricity and have greater resolution than liquid crystal displays.

Sharp returns to black in FY 2013

TOKYO, Japan - Sharp Corp. President Kozo Takahashi holds a press conference in Tokyo on May 12, 2014, on the electronics maker's earnings results for fiscal 2013. Sharp said it returned to profitability in the business year ended March 2014 for the first time in three years, posting a group net profit of 11.56 billion yen, on increased sales of its mainstay liquid crystal display panels and solar batteries.

Sharp 90-inch display

Sharp said on Nov. 22, 2012, it will release the display that is capable of showing a person at full height. The display, measuring 2 meters by 1.2 meters, is the first of its kind for use mainly by businesses and will go on sale on Jan. 28, 2013, for a price of around 2.6 million yen.
