      BARCELONA, Spain - BRA Honda Formula One driver Takuma Sato drives out at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on Feb. 3. Sato set an unofficial lap record at the track of 1 minute, 13.797 seconds to eclipse the previous mark recorded by teammate Jenson Button of England a day earlier.

        Sato joins Formula One team BAR as test driver

        TOKYO, Japan - Japanese driver Takuma Sato (in photo taken in October 2002) has signed for Formula One racing team BAR as its third driver after being dropped by Jordan halfway through a two-year contract, motor racing officials said Dec. 18. Sato will be assigned the test driver role for BAR, who has former world champion Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button for its drivers for the 2003 season.
