Earth Observation Summit kicks off in Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi addresses the opening of the second Earth Observation Summit at a Tokyo hotel on April 25. ''Global observation plays a great role in accurately assessing the various phenomena taking place around the globe, and toward adopting appropriate measures,'' Koizumi told 300 representatives from 45 countries who gathered to create a global planet observation system.
