Clark becomes president of Vodafone's Japanese arm

TOKYO, Japan - Vodafone Holdings K.K. said Brian Clark (in file photo), chief executive of Vodafone Group PLC's Asia Pacific Region, was appointed June 23 as president and chief executive officer of the Japanese arm of the British mobile giant. Clark, a 55-year-old South African native, took over from Darryl Green for immediate effect. Clark also succeeded Green as president of Vodafone K.K., which operates under the umbrella of Vodafone Holdings.

Vodafone to promote shift to 3G mobile phone handsets

TOKYO, Japan - Vodafone K.K. President Shiro Tsuda speaks at his office in Tokyo on Dec. 22. Tsuda said that the Japanese unit of British mobile phone service company Vodafone Group PLC will encourage its customers to shift to third-generation handsets for faster data communications. ''Vodafone will offer its last 2G handset next year and no more 2G later,'' Tsuda said in an interview with Kyodo News.

Jones named chief operating officer of Vodafone K.K. (Japan)

TOKYO, Japan - Vodafone K.K. (Japan) said March 10 that David Jones (in file photo), chief executive officer of Vodafone Netherlands, will assume the newly created post of chief operating officer on April 1. A native of Britain, Jones joined British mobile phone company Vodafone Group PLC in 1986 and has been in his current post since 2001. Vodafone K.K. (Japan) is a unit of Vodafone Group.
