Japanese gets prison term for aiding N. Korean refugees
TOKYO, Japan - Hiroshi Kato, secretary general of the Japanese nongovernmental organization Life Funds for North Korea Refugees, speaks in Tokyo on June 28 about a sentence handed down to Takayuki Noguchi, a member of the NGO, by a Chinese court. The court sentenced Noguchi to eight months in prison and fined him 20,000 yuan (about 260,000 yen) for helping North Koreans who entered China go to a third country.
