U.S., N. Korea discuss nuclear issue in Jakarta
JAKARTA, Indonesia - U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell (L) and North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun met in Jakarta on July 2 on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum (ARF) to clarify their countries' proposals on how to resolve the standoff over North Korea's nuclear programs. It was the first contact between U.S. and North Korean foreign ministers since the nuclear crisis erupted in October 2002.
