Ex-gov't spokesman Muraoka indicted over donation scandal
TOKYO, Japan - Kanezo Muraoka, former chief cabinet secretary, speaks to a group of reporters at his home in Tokyo's Meguro Ward on Sept. 25 about his alleged involvement in a political donation scandal. He denied the allegation but prosecutors indicted him on Sept. 26 while not taking him into custody on charges of violating the Political Funds Control Law by backing a plan to hide a 100 million yen political donation his faction received from the Japan Dental Association in July 2001.
