St. Louis Cardinals' Taguchi denies news of release

NEW YORK, United States - So Taguchi (in file photo) brushed aside a report that the St. Louis Cardinals will not extend his contract on Dec. 21, saying the paperwork has been delayed and he is on the verge of signing with the National League club for a fourth season. ''The general manager has been tied up in talks with free agents and it has been taking longer than expected to complete the signing but that's all,'' Taguchi told Kyodo News. (MLB)
