Toyota opens Tijuana plant; first full-scale operation in Mexico

TECATE, Mexico - Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California, the first full-scale operation set up in Mexico by Toyota Motor Corp. marks its official opening in a ceremony held in Tijuana, Baja California, on Feb. 1. Baja California Gov. Eugenio Elorduy, and other state and local leaders attended the ceremony at the Tijuana plant, which employs 650 employees and plans to hire an additional 50 people, Toyota said in a statement.
