Japanese skier overcomes quake to win gold at Special Olympics

NAGANO, Japan - Japanese cross country skier Yoshikazu Higuchi (L) wins the gold medal in his category of the 3-kilometer freestyle finals at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Nagano Prefecture on Feb. 28. The 17-year-old from Ojiya in the prefecture had almost given up his quest to join the games after Niigata was hit by a major earthquake and aftershocks last October.
