TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. Managing Director Akio Toyota sits in a car equipped with a G-Book Alpha-compatible car navigation system that provides renovated telematics services at a press conference in Tokyo on April 14. Services include a call for emergency vehicles and onboard purchases of musical pieces. The emergency call service, offered as standard, alerts the police or fire department to summon an appropriate type of rescue vehicle in the event of a traffic accident or medical emergency.

Toyota releases car featuring G-Book wireless info system

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. President Fujio Cho shows off Toyota's new vehicle Will Cypha car, which features G-Book onboard wireless information terminal, in Tokyo on Oct. 21. The G-Book enables drivers to access about 30 different information services, including navigation, e-commerce, news and weather. The 1.3-liter, two-wheel-drive Will Cypha carries a suggested price tag of 1.26 million yen. The 1.5-liter, four-wheel-drive version will sell for 1.48 million yen. (Kyodo)

Toyota to launch 'G-Book' info network service

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows the terminal of a new membership-based service which Toyota Motor Corp. will launch in fall 2002. The service will enable drivers to receive a wide rage of interactive information services via wireless communication terminals in their vehicles. Toyota said Aug. 28 that the G-Book service will be available at a fixed monthly fee that allows use of an on-board terminal to receive about 30 different standard service items.
