Softbank files for approval to offer cellphone service
TOKYO, Japan - Softbank Corp. President Masayoshi Son visits the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Tokyo on Sept. 5 to apply for government approval for his company's plan to offer a third-generation mobile phone service from the end of 2007. The ministry plans to issue up to two licenses to operate cellphone services in the 1.7-gigahertz frequency band.
