LDP won't accept Futemma relocation without Okinawa's consent

TOKYO, Japan - Defense Agency Director General Fukushiro Nukaga (R) is in talks with Nago Mayor Yoshikazu Shimabukuro at the Defense Agency on April 4 on relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futemma Air Station in Okinawa Prefecture. A ruling Liberal Democratic Party panel decided earlier in the day it will not accept any final agreement between the Japanese and U.S. governments on the issue without first gaining local consent.
