Man convicted in 1963 Sayama murder case still seeking retrial
TOKYO, Japan - Kazuo Ishikawa (L), who was given a life sentence and spent almost 32 years in prison over a 1963 murder in Sayama, Saitama Prefecture, before being released on parole, meets the press with his lawyer (R) after filing his third petition for a retrial with the Tokyo High Court on May 23, insisting he is innocent. Ishikawa, 67, was convicted of the murder of a 16-year-old female high school student in the city near Tokyo in a case that became known as the ''Sayama Incident.''
