Australia hopes to start FTA talks with Japan next year

TOKYO, Japan - Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer and his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso pose for a photo prior to their talks at the Foreignh Ministry's guesthouse in Tokyo on Aug. 2. Downer expressed hope that his country could enter into official negotiations on a free trade agreement with Japan in 2007 by concluding the ongoing feasibility study at an early date.
