1936 feat of Korean marathoner Son Gi Jeong remembered
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Son Jong In (L), eldest son of the Korean winner of the 1936 Berlin Olympics marathon, Son Gi Jeong, and Keizo Yamada, the winner of the 1953 Boston Marathon, pose for a photo during a ceremony held on Aug. 9 in Yokohama to mark the 70th anniversary of Son's feat. Son, whose name is sometimes spelled Sohn Kee Chung, was forced to compete for the Japanese team during the Olympics because the Korean Peninsula was under Japanese occupation then.
