U.S. flag raised on Iwojima shown to press

QUANTICO, Virginia - A new U.S. Marines museum to be opened in Quantico, Virginia, in November held a press preview on Oct. 13, displaying one of the most famous Stars and Stripes flags in the country's history. The flag was raised on Mt. Suribachi on Iwojima Island in 1945 after fierce fighting on the Pacific isle between U.S. and Japanese forces during the closing days of World War II.
