Hoya, Pentax to merge next Oct. to enhance medical operations

TOKYO, Japan - Fumio Urano (R), president of camera manufacturer Pentax Corp., and Hiroshi Suzuki, chief executive officer of leading optical glassmaker Hoya Corp., shake hands after their joint press conference in Tokyo on Dec. 21. They announced that the two companies will merge on Oct. 1, 2007.
