Kagoshima court acquits 12 accused of vote-buying

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - Supporters of 12 defendants on trial for vote-buying in the 2003 Kagoshima prefectural assembly election celebrate outside the Kagoshima District court after the court on Feb. 23found all the 12 defendants not guilty as charged. The ruling questions the credibility of confessions obtained from some of the defendants. The banner says, ''Congratulations! Everyone acquitted.''
