JR Hokkaido begins commercially operating Dual-Mode Vehicle
ABASHIRI, Japan - Hokkaido Railway Co. (JR Hokkaido) on April 14 began commercial operations on a test basis of its Dual-Mode Vehicle -- a minibus with retractable train wheels for use on tracks -- on part of the Semmo Line along the Sea of Okhotsk in Japan's northernmost prefecture. The picture shows the DMV switching to steel wheels for use on tracks in the town of Koshimizu.
