Hirohito discontent with Yasukuni's honoring Class-A war criminals
TOKYO, Japan - A file photo taken in 2000 shows Ryogo Urabe, who served Emperor Hirohito as a chamberlain of the Imperial Household Agency, from December 1969 to February 2002. The diaries kept by Urabe indicated that Emperor Hirohito was discontent with Yasukuni Shrine's enshrining of Class-A World War II criminals and concerned about disputes with other Asian countries over history.
