Ruling bloc passes pension bills despite opposition protests
TOKYO, Japan - Members of the House of Representatives cast their ballots in the early hours of June 1 as the governing Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition ally, the New Komeito party, forced a vote on two pension-related bills after killing a series of no-confidence motions put up by the opposition.
