Economic policy blueprint features 'maximum' spending cuts

TOKYO, Japan - Economic and fiscal policy minister Hiroko Ota speaks at a press conference on June 4 after at a meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy on June 4. The draft featured a pledge to implement ''maximum'' spending cuts in the compilation of the fiscal 2008 budget and narrow gaps in tax revenues between municipalities in urban and rural areas.
