Toyota keeps global sales target despite Niigata quake
TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. President Katsuaki Watanabe said in Tokyo on July 23 the company has no plan to change its global sales target of 9.34 million vehicles on a group basis, despite difficulties in procuring engine parts following a deadly earthquake July 16 in Niigata Prefecture and continued weak domestic demand for automobiles. He said the automaker group is likely to reduce production by a total of 55,000 vehicles through July 24 due to the stoppage of its domestic factories.
