Tsunami drill in Sagami Bay draws 30,000 participants
TOKYO, Japan - A Kanagawa police helicopter takes part in a tsunami drill in the Sagami Bay on July 31. The drill is based on the scenario that a magnitude 7.9 earthquake has hit the coastal areas of Sagami Bay, triggering towering tidal waves in the coastal areas of Shonan and the Miura peninsula. About 30,000 people, including swimmers, took part in the exercise, which involved eight cities and six townships along the Sagami Bay coast.
