Okinawa leaders request gov't retract instruction on textbooks

TOKYO, Japan - Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima (L) hands a resolution to education minister Kisaburo Tokai (R) asking him to retract his ministry's instruction to publishers to remove from history textbooks references to reports the Japanese military forced civilians to commit mass suicide during the 1945 Battle of Okinawa.
