State lab found to have kept hazardous bacteria in lax manner

TSUKUBA, Japan - Shingo Ichimura (C), an official of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, apologizes, along with two others, in Tsububa, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Oct. 17 after International Patent Organism Depository, one of its units, was found to have been keeping about 300 strains of biohazard materials in a careless manner against internal regulations.
