Baseball: Softbank picks right-hander Oba in draft
TOKYO, Japan - Toyo University right-hander Shota Oba (R) and Softbank Hawks manager Sadaharu Oh pose for photographers after Oh won the lottery for Oba in the first round of Japanese baseball's amateur draft on Nov. 19. Oba has set Tohto University Baseball League records with 14 straight wins and 410 strikeouts. The Orix Buffaloes, Yokohama BayStars, Hanshin Tigers, Nippon Ham Fighters and Yomiuri Giants also named him in the first round of bids.
