Tokyo OKs transfer of tax revenues to troubled municipalities

TOKYO, Japan - Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara answers questions from reporters at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on Dec. 11 after talks with Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. Ishihara told Fukuda that he will accept a request from the central government to hand over a 300 billion yen portion of Tokyo's tax revenues to fiscally distressed municipalities as a provisional step to help reduce revenue gaps between urban and rural districts.
