Toyota likely to outdistance GM in 2008 global output

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. President Katsuaki Watanabe smiles during a news conference in Nagoya on Dec. 25. He said Toyota's global auto production is expected to increase 5 percent from a year earlier to 9.95 million units on a group basis in 2008, against the backdrop of continued robust sales in China, the Middle East, Russia and other emerging economies.
