Rehearsal at Kyoto temple to ring out the old year
KYOTO, Japan - A team of Buddhist priests toll the huge bronze bell at the Chion-in temple in Kyoto on Dec. 27 in a rehearsal for the New Year's Eve ceremony to ring out the old year. The bell, which is 3.3 meters high and weighs 70 tons, is one of the three largest temple bells in Japan along with the ones at Todaiji temple in Nara and Hokoji temple in Kyoto.
