Tokyo to inject 40 bil. yen in ailing Shinginko Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Ryuichi Tsushima, president of Shinginko Tokyo, a bank set up by the Tokyo metropolitan government in April 2005, speaks to reporters in Tokyo on Feb. 20. The bank said it has asked the local government for an additional injection of 40 billion yen into its ailing capital base.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government plans to have more than 100 fuel cell buses in use by the end of this year, and the Toyosu Hydrogen Station will be responsible for supplying hydrogen to the city's fuel cell buses. Takashi Anamizu, vice president of Tokyo Gas, said on the same day that he expects the station's operation rate to increase significantly.         Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has finalized a new fundraising framework totaling over 100 billion yen. In addition to raising 80-90 billion yen from Ichigo Asset Group, an independent investment fund, JDI will also sell some of its facilities at its Hakusan plant (Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture) to Apple Inc. On April 12, JDI announced that it had reached a basic agreement with Ichigo Trust to raise up to 90 billion yen from Ichigo. Minoru Kikuoka, president of JDI, explained the purpose of the framework at a press conference on January 12, saying, "We will sell assets in order to enhance our capital and at the same time minimize the impact on existing shareholders through dilution.
