Car drivers fill up before Diet reinstalls gasoline surcharge

SAPPORO, Japan - A car driver fills up the tank of her car at a gas station in Chitose, Hokkaido, on April 29, a day before the Liberal Democratic Party-New Komeito coalition is set to ram through the Diet a bill to reinstall a 25-yen per-liter surcharge on gasoline. The sign says gasoline prices will go up from May 1.
