Nissan develops crash avoidance robot

TOKYO, Japan - Nissan Motor Co.'s BR23C robots avoid colliding with a woman during a demonstration at the CEATEC JAPAN 2008 electronic products trade fair at the Makuhari Messe hall in Chiba on Sept. 30. The robots, equipped with sophisticated sensors modeled on the compound eyes of bees, can detect approaching obstacles and instantly avoid colliding with them.
