Panasonic sets new high in interim net profit for 1st time in 23 yrs

TOKYO, Japan - Panasonic Corp. President Fumio Otsubo responds to questions from reporters during a news conference in Tokyo on Oct. 28. Otsubo said the Panasonic group's net profit in the April-September first half of the 2008 business year rose 22.2 percent from a year earlier to 128.49 billion yen, setting a new high for the first time in 23 years.
