Ex-ASDF chief retires under age limit following dismissal

TOKYO, Japan - Gen. Toshio Tamogami, who was dismissed on Oct. 31 as the Air Self-Defense Force chief of staff over his essay denying Japan was an aggressor during World War II, speaks at a news conference in Tokyo on Nov. 3. He said that ''Japan would cease to be a free and democratic country if one is not allowed to express something like that (what was written in the essay).''
